RESEARCH FIELDS

Overall, Prof. S. Koubias’s scientific activity focused on areas related to:
(a) technologies and architectures of advanced microcomputing and embedded systems,
(b) wired and wireless real-time distributed systems,
(c) advanced industrial-type automation and electronic networked embedded systems,
(d) security of real-time networked systems and,
(e) dynamic systems for industrial/business excellence – Total quality.

His work aligns with the key scientific domains underpinning Industry 4.0, focusing on Emerging Technologies, Factory Automation, and Factory Communication Systems within the Industrial Electronics Society of the renowned and prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Notably, he was among the first academics in Greece to bridge applied scientific research with Greek and European industries through significant Research and Development (R&D) initiatives. These efforts involved collaborations with academic and industrial research groups across Europe and Greece, contributing to the high-quality education of engineers on industrially relevant topics. This approach equipped students with a strong scientific foundation, prepared them for further academic advancement, and enhanced their employment prospects in major industrial units in Greece and abroad.

Beyond his extensive research in advanced real-time industrial distributed systems and microcomputing/embedded systems, he participated in numerous competitive significant Research and Development (R&D) projects. These projects predominantly involved collaborations with large industrial units and production entities in Greece and abroad. They aimed to provide innovative solutions applicable to Greek and European industries, grounded in significant scientific and research achievements resulting from collaborations with prominent research teams in Greece and internationally.

Professor Paolo Ciambelli, born in Napoli, Italy, in 1945, received a master degree in Chemical Engineering in 1970 at the University of Napoli “Federico II”. He served as assistant professor in Chemical plants from 1972 to 1981 and associate professor in Industrial Chemistry at University of Napoli Federico II from 1982 to 1990. Since 1990 he served as full professor in Industrial and Technological Chemistry at the University of Salerno.

Retired since Nov. 1st, 2015, nominated Emeritus professor by the italian Minister of education, university, and research, since Nov. 2016.

Founder and CEO of NARRANDO SRL, innovative start up company,1st National Award for Innovation (2012), since June 2013.

The most significant academic and professional positions:

The research activity of Prof. Ciambelli mostly concerned the study of catalytic processes of Industrial Chemistry and of nanomaterials. Main research subjects are: (i) catalytic and photocatalytic processes for the abatement of pollutants, production of petrochemicals, production of hydrogen, and photocatalytic processes, (ii) materials (zeolites, carbon nanotubes and graphene, nanoparticles), and their innovative applications such as nanocomposites, nanolubricants, nanodosimeters, nanosensors, supercapacitors, drug nano carriers, and (iii) sustainable development and circular economy.

Prof. Ciambelli was responsible of several tens Regional, National and European Projects and of Research Contracts financed by public institutions and private companies. He is co-author of over 350 publications (Scopus, 2021) on books and international journals and 15 patents, h-index 46. He is within the top 2% of world scientists (PloS Biol, 2020).

• Since 2022 the French National Health Authority has appointed me Chair of the Working Group on the Coordination between Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Children Protection services. This Working Group is expected to issue its recommendations in June 2024.

Prof. Andreas Kapardis – Nicosia, Cyprus

Andreas Kapardis is an elected Full Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, a Life-Member of Clare Hall, Cambridge University, has been an Honorary Visiting Professor at the Institute of Criminology of Cambridge University during 1999-2019, and is Emeritus Professor of Criminal Sciences University of Cyprus. He has also been a Visiting Academic at the Cyprus Police Academy 2000-2019. He studied in England and, inter alia, holds a Diploma of English Studies (Cambridge), B.Sc (Hons) Psychology (CNAA), Post-Grad.Dip. Criminology (Cambridge) and a Ph.D in Criminology (Cambridge). He is also a Senior Criminal Investigator graduate of the Victoria Police Detective Training School. His main research and teaching interests lie in criminology, criminal justice, police studies, penology, and legal psychology. For a number of years he was a university academic in Australia, and has also worked as Governor of the Central Prison in Nicosia and counselling psychologist in Australia. Currently in Cyprus he (a) leads the Bi-communal Technical Committee on Crime and (b)has chaired the Independent Committee on Sport Integrity and Sport Safeguarding.

He has researched a broad variety of offenders, sentencing, legal psychology, policing, economic crimes, corruption internationally, sport integrity and also prisoners’ recidivism in Cyprus, has presented his work at numerous international conferences and published a significant number of books and many scientific articles and chapters in books, in conference proceedings and so forth internationally. Halima Resić is Professor of Internal medicine – nephrology in Sarajevo. Professor Resić studied medicine at the University of Belgrade where she also undertook clinical fellowship in nephrology. She finished her postgraduate studies also at the University of Belgrade in 1987. Professor Resić worked at the Clinical Centre of Belgrade from 1972. to 1992. In 1993. she worked at Marmara University of Istanbul. Also, in the period from 1994. to 1996. she took part in projects for refugees in Munich with the support of the Ministry of health of city Munich. From 1996. till 2019. professor Resić worked at the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo, where she was head of the Clinic of Hemodialysis. In 2001. She obtained her PhD degree in Nephrology. She became a professor at the Medical faculty of the University of Sarajevo in 2013.

Professor Resić published about 180 professional and scientific papers in relevant journals. She has been a president of organizations of few national congress and nephrology schools, and also active participant of ERA congress and WCN congress. She has been also invited lecturer in over 60 different international and national congresses.

Professor Resić was President of BANTAO society (2017-2019), President of Mediterian kidney society. She has been President of the Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2010-2020) and also she is President of Donor’s network of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is a member of ERA EDTA and ISN, and also member of Committee of SRC by ISN. She is member of Council of EAPE (European Association of Professor Emerita). She is also vice president of IANUBIH (International Academy of Science and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and member of board South Eastern Europe by ISN.

In her career she obtained many international awards for her work in the field of Nephrology.
